Search changed. Common sense didn't.
CommonSenSEO is returning with a simple aim: make the next step in search easier to understand.
This is our editorial position, rather than a claim that search systems never change. New interfaces deserve attention. So do the everyday questions a customer brings to your website.
Start at the customer’s question
Imagine a small business owner opening a service page between appointments. They want to know whether you can help, what is involved and how to proceed.
Our starting point is to make that visit useful. Explain the offer in ordinary language. Include a real example where it helps. Make contact easy. These are choices we can examine directly, without guessing at an algorithm.
Show your working
Advice is easier to assess when its source is visible. We aim to distinguish three things: what a platform documents, what we have observed, and what we recommend trying.
Where we have not run an experiment, we should not write as if we have. Where a result depends on circumstances, those circumstances belong beside the claim.
Give ideas the space they need
Some questions have a short answer. Others need a comparison, a story or a worked example. We use cards when they make something easier to read and share; longer explanations keep their room to breathe.
The answer library and insights serve those different needs.
Make the relaunch useful
This site is also a place to put that approach into practice. The page planner starts with your own knowledge. The CommonSenSEO Show offers a connection to the project’s history.
If something here is unclear, or a source no longer supports an answer, tell us. The next version should be better because someone asked a good question.
